I received a great email from Emma at OpenRoadMedia. Her company in conjunction with MysteriousPress.com are re-releasing 12 of the Ellery Queen mystery novels. To me that’s fantastic. I love Ellery Queen novels and am delighted to share this news with you.
These are classic whodunits starring the famous sleuth Ellery Queen. Written by two cousins, Frederic Dannay and Manfred Bennington Lee, the mysteries are set in the 1930s and 1940s. One of the great features of these novels is the placement of the clues. For us who enjoy trying to solve the mystery along with the sleuth, Ellery Queen stories give us every clue we need to solve the crime. These mysteries were so popular that even a 3rd TV adaptation emerged from them. In 1975 and 1976, the late Jim Hutton played the super sleuth. This series ran for 22 episodes and I was glued to my seat for every one.
And now those mystery novels are being brought back to us. I know I will be anxiously reading every one. Here is the complete list of all 12.
- The Chinese Orange Mystery
- The American Gun Mystery
- The Adventures of Ellery Queen
- The Dutch Shoe Mystery
- The Egyptian Cross Mystery
- The Siamese Twin Mystery
- The French Power Mystery
- The Greek Coffin Mystery
- The Spanish Cape Mystery
- Cat of Many Tails
- Ten Days’ Wonder
- And on the Eighth Day
Until these are finally available to us all, I offer you another option to get started reading Ellery Queen mysteries.
I remember watching the Ellery Queen series on tv when I was young. My mother loved the books and followed the series. Guess I need to read the books now!
