Mystery of the Month: Desperate Housedogs

This month we have a charming new series to introduce you to. It’s the Pampered Pet Series, authored by Sparkle Abbey. Book One in the series is Desperate Housedogs. That name alone drew us in. We just had to read it, and loved it. Then went on to discover so much about the authors (yep, it’s two) and the series.

Desperate Housedogs introduces us to Cara Lamont and her cousin Mel. Through out the story these relatives fight over an heirloom broach. But, that’s not the mystery. It’s just a fun side line of the story. The real mystery begins when Cara, a former psychologist turned pet therapist, helps a client with his two out-of-control German Shepherd Dogs. Two hours later and the client is found dead. This leaves Cara as a potential suspect.

She plays not only the role of suspect but also that of amateur sleuth to solve this case. Cara has an active role as well with the local animal shelter. The world of rescued dogs and cats play an important part in this story and help lead Cara to the solution.

There is a good reason this series is called the Pampered Pet Series. Authors Mary Lee Woods and Anita Carter are both parents of rescued pets as well as talented mystery writers. They joined the two names of their rescued pets Sparkle (Woods’ cat) and Abbey (Carter’s dog) to form their pen name.

You can see a picture of all 4 (two human and two pet) on their website: www.SparkleAbbey.com as well as read their story and learn more about Book Two in the series – Get Fluffy.
